Rocky Mountain National Park – The Loch Sunrise

Rocky Mountain National Park - The Loch Sunrise

Thought Process:

I would expect the first place the eye would go would be the glowing red rock. The original cliff face is a fairly neutral color so the intense red colors were really making the scene pop. The calm waters reflected the cliff face like a mirror and as the eye travels downward, you’ll end up at the wild flowers.

Personal Thoughts:

I was getting eaten alive by the mosquitoes and to be completely honest, was in a really bad mood because of it. I thought I was lucky though. I’ve been to the Loch a couple of times before and every time, it was really windy. So, to experience the Loch in such a serene state was a really nice experience. I wanted to do a longer exposure so that the ripples of the waters weren’t shown in the picture as much as possible, along with trying to fit in the wild flowers somehow. Unfortunately, this was a picture where I wish I had Photoshop, as well as the foresight to take multiple photos of the same scene but focusing on different aspects. With focus stacking I would have been able to get the wild flowers to look nice and sharp as well, instead of the fuzzy state that it’s in right now.
