Thought Process:
With the pale yellow background, I figured I could use more saturated colors and make them stand out more. This portrait included a hand rolled up in a sleeve so making sure that the sleeve… looked like cloth and not like everything around it was kind of challenging. I think just drawing with vertical lines makes this look much better than it probably is but it looks pretty nice. Personally, I’m very happy with how the eyes and nose turned out. They look natural and the colors used to suggest the form work well. I think as long as you give the eyes, nose, and mouth some effort, a portrait more or less comes together. Maybe… I don’t know. I never went to art school.
